Should i hand in my notice before signing contract
Hand in your notice meaning...
Even if you don’t have an employment contract, it is best practice to give your employer a full two weeks’ notice (ten business days) before you leave the company.
This is why I recommend giving two weeks’ notice either on Monday morning or Friday afternoon:
- If you are on good terms with your current employer, hand in your two weeks’ notice on Monday morning so that a Friday will be your last day.
- On the other hand, if things are heated at the office, consider resigning on a Friday afternoon.
In this way, your boss and manager will have time to digest the news over the weekend. Resigning on a Friday also gives HR the weekend to plan for a smooth transition.
In any case, make sure your notice gives you more than enough time to finish things up, hand off responsibilities, and say your goodbyes or tie up any other loose ends.
